Counseling
Working with individuals and their families is always available. Whether the concern is how to deal with your child’s behavior, difficulty with friends, difficulty at school, or any other reason, Glenna is able to provide this service. She relies on practical approaches to counseling including client-centered counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, and her years of experience working with people on the autism spectrum. Since each individual is unique, please contact Glenna for more informaion on the counseling services you are seeking.
Social Skills
Social Thinking® groups are also known as “PS Kids” (PS for Puget Sound). Using the work of Michelle Garcia Winner, Glenna uses a “Social Thinking” approach to teaching social skills to students with social challenges. This approach, based on cognitive behavioral therapy, will teach participants to become "social thinkers", learning how to be "part of a group", make logical guesses about the intent of others, and change their own behavior to keep others thinking positively about them. Students meet weekly with others of the same age and perspective-taking ability to learn new skills while having fun. Children from preschool through middle school can take advantage of these groups. Additional programs are offered duing the summer.

Consulting
Often students on the autism spectrum or with social cognitive challenges struggle in the school setting. Glenna is able to provide consultation to the school staff to help your child succeed. Consultation services can range from participation at IEP conferences to observation of the student in the classroom and then meeting with the school staff along with the family. It may also include training for the school staff. Consultation can be initiated by the family or the school.
Assessment
Assessments can be done for a variety of reasons. Glenna's background as a certified school psychologist has provided her with the skills and experience to administer tests for many purposes. Most commonly, testing is done in the areas of cognition, academics, self-help, and social competence. Glenna also has tools to examine some of the communication issues faced by children on the autism spectrum. Diagnostic assessment is available through clinical psychologist Crystal Gray, Ph.D.
